Eucharia's Story

IMG_8646_edited.jpg

Eucharia is a dedicated community leader, advocate, and seasoned professional with a strong commitment to addressing key social issues such as diversity, arts, and the empowerment of women. With over two decades of experience in Sales and Marketing at Eli Lilly and Company, she has leveraged her skills to leave a significant and lasting impact within her community.

After over two decades in corporate America, Eucharia made another pivotal decision—this time, to leave her career to raise her children and dedicate herself to volunteerism and community advocacy. Inspired by the kindness that changed her own life, she set out to pay it forward, becoming a powerful advocate for the arts, diversity, women’s empowerment, and healthcare within her Richmond, Virginia community.

Eucharia’s impact is widespread and profound. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Science Museum of Virginia, the Board of Directors for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation, Citizens’ Advisory Council on Furnishing and Interpreting the Executive Mansion, and the Advisory Board of VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, among others. Her commitment extends beyond the boardroom; she is deeply involved in grassroots efforts, from combating heart disease to supporting women who have suffered from abuse, motivated by personal losses and experiences that have shaped her worldview.

Her story is not just one of service but of bridging worlds. She is launching a clothing line that celebrates her Nigerian heritage, with proceeds supporting clean water initiatives in Enugu. This endeavor, like everything she does, is about giving back and creating opportunities for others, just as she was once given a chance.

For her relentless dedication to her community, Eucharia was honored with the 2024 YWCA Outstanding Women Award for Volunteerism. She credits her strength and achievements to the love and support of her family—her husband, daughters, and bonus children—who have been her bedrock as she navigates her dual commitments to family and community.

Eucharia’s journey, from the dirt roads of Nigeria to the heart of Richmond, is a powerful reminder that kindness can spark a lifetime of change. With every step, she honors the stranger who gave her a chance and proves that one person can indeed make a difference. As she often reflects, echoing the words of Nelson Mandela, "It is in your hands to make a difference." And make a difference, she does.
